Very Rare Large Limited Edition Reproduction Modigliani sculpture "Tete de Femme" by Austin Productions 1961. Trademarked & signed. The back of this vintage sculpture has "Austin Productions 1961" and their trademark. This is a heavy and substantial statement piece at 22". This sculpture has the hallmarks of being sculpted using Durastone & finished in terra cotta -- this sculpting process is preferred to that of other inferior methods since it involves firing strong clay at 2185 degrees Fahrenheit. The subject of this sculpture was the famous Caryatid that Modigliani sculpted . Woman's Head, 1912 - This subject was his most coveted and very highly valued. The original sculpture went for a fortune & most "original" reproductions of this subject have much value as well. The value of this piece has considerably increased as Austin Productions have ceased production and this has not been available for many, many years.
